Reflexology: massage for your feet at your home or hotel.

This is the most well known form of reflex zone massage. The roots of foot reflexology are in ancient China, about 5000 years ago and the techniques were cultivated afterwards in the ancient Greek and Egyptian civilization.
The modern reflexology therapy was developed by the American Dr. William Fitzgerald and masseuse Eunice Ingham, who did research around 1915 for the treatment of organs on distance.
They divided the body in 10 zones and the outcome of this research was, that it was evident that by treatment on one side of the body (i.e. the foot), he could influence the other side of the body.
This reflexology study has been largely extended in the last century by many therapists.

How is a reflexologist working? How can you read the feet?

By treating the reflex zones of organs, they become relaxed. Lymphatic vessels are drained, muscles and nerves are activated or sedated. The massage of the feet has a cleansing / purifying and relaxing effect on the whole body. Locally it gives the feet strength and flexibility.
The reflexology can be supported by a diversity of ethereal oils.

A reflexology therapist will have a holistic view of people (which means we are looking for the whole human aspect, in physical, emotional, mental and spiritual way).
After that, the therapist can balance body and mind. This will give the body the ability to heal the whole person on all levels.
When a total equilibrium is found, we speak of homeostasis.

That's why it's so important for a therapist to have, besides a good knowledge of the human body, the ability to work from his own essence.
This means that the therapist has to balance himself, before he starts working on an energetic level. This will boost the massage dramatically

Reflexology is part of the complementary/alternative healthcare.
I prefer the name complementary, since reflexology is not a replacement for the regular healthcare. It's really complementary, which gives a surplus value to the treatment of the client.
