Premenstrual Syndrome

PMS

Premenstrual Syndrome is a collection of complaints that are getting worse
in the week before the ovulation, which can vary in their expression.
You can think at being quickly irritated, constantly changing moods, but also
loss of weight (or the contrary) or even depressions and disturbed behavior.

From research we know that 50% of the women have one or more symptoms of PMS.
50% again has that many complaints that they’re searching for treatment.
It’s striking that a considerable amount of the women experience worsening when
they're between 40 and 50 years old, mostly in combination with the menopause.

Women with PMS complaints have most of time a short of magnesium (magnesium is,
among other things, responsible for the hormonal metabolism)
Besides that, most often there is a fluctuating blood sugar level,
which can intensify complaints like dizziness or a shaking body.

This is why women feel a need to eat chocolate during their periods.
Chocolate contains magnesium (and sugar), which can release the cramp in the abdomen.
Unfortunately this works only temporarily, while the fat in chocolate can worsen a couple of
other complaints.

Partially, these complaints can be undertaken by healthy food.
Fresh vegetables, fruit, nuts, fat fish and wholemeal bread can decrease the complaints,
while products like coffee, cola, chocolate and medication with caffeine can increase
complaints like heart palpitations, shaking or anxiety.

During the menstrual periods, these women have often complaints of the lower back
and in some cases this is pared with constipation, followed by diarrhea.
It’s possible to get a massage during these periods, where the body massage as well as
foot reflex zone therapy (most often combined with energetic massage) are possible,
although quite some women preserve the foot reflexology, since they can sit on the table
instead of lying on their stomach, which can give extra pressure on the uterus.
This is always done in conversation between client and therapist.

For a treatment, you can come to Health centre “Bannedok” in Amsterdam, or order the
massage at home or hotel in the region Amsterdam, Haarlem (Netherlands).
