Nature and Origin
The Nature of a thought is a certain thought (or emotion) which is experienced as “positive” or “negative”.
Most important is the experience by the person, the objective situation is of minor importance.
The Origin of a thought or emotion is not only meant as when a certain thought or emotion is originated, but even more where that thought or emotion is connected with.
As humans we associate people, emotions and situations by experiences in the past
and connect it with the current situation.
When there is a situation that reminds us (aware or unaware) at another situation,
one will most of the times react at exactly the same way as in the past.
Sometimes this is of great use, as in threatening situations (like you’ve learned how it smells when there is a fire, at a later moment in time you can recognize the smell and react at it.)
In a couple of other cases it’s not appropriate to react the same way.
Let’s say a child has learned to express himself in a powerful way by beating up other children.
When the child grows up though, it has to find other ways that can empower his will,
without ending in physical violence.
You’ll have to learn Where this need for recognition is coming from and Why one react like this
(ie. out of frustration or even fear)
All these things work for children as well as adults.
When one starts to be aware of his / her own behavior,
one can change (if wanted) in full awareness.
