HSP (High Sensitive Person): Disease or intolerance?

HSP

HSP stands for Highly Sensitive Person, a term that is introduced a couple of years ago by psychologist
Dr. Elaine Aron. She did an extensive research (and still does) for hsp.
Although the term HSP is quite new, the problems a hsp is facing aren’t new at all.

What is Highly Sensitive

Highly Sensitive means that a person is more sensitive for impressions that surrounds them then most other people. This sensitivity can be found in a lot of different areas, variable from work, social contacts or in a busy environment. Stimuli like music, smell or electromagnetic signals can have a large effect on a hsp. They can get problems with their concentration during a meeting or in a class.

Generally speaking, people who are high sensitive have a much stronger feeling for what is happening in their environment. They feel tensions between people and groups and the atmosphere that surrounds them. They often tend to pull themselves back, by "isolating" themselves for a while or by sleeping to find rest.

Is HSP a disease ?

No, hsp is not a disease. It's an intolerance of the nervous system (which is over-stimulated by all the surrounding energies that they’ve sensed.)
This high sensitivity is “forcing” you to find and come to your own centre, and to learn you to be aware of these powerful observations.

High sensitivity is present since birth and research tells us that about 20% of the population should be highly sensitive. Men and female are equally represented. High sensitivity makes people not only feel, but also react at this over-stimulation and can result in increased attentiveness.

As long as people are not aware of their own sensitivity, they will have troubles with being over sensed and experience mostly the “negative” sides of hsp. Once people beginning to be aware of their own sensitivity and start to give it a place in their life, they will find that it is more a gift then a trouble.
It will lead to space for understanding, insight, warm feelings and creativity. It will give compassion and love, which can lead to wisdom.
